Hypnotherapy Treatment- Who’s in Control?
July 8, 2008 by Blanca
I was talking to a friend who smokes 2 packs of cigarettes per day. He has an enormous amount of energy and wants to quit but doesn’t know how. He has tried to stop cold turkey before. I mentioned that the procedure I use is a gradual minimization of the amounts of cigarettes per day utilizing a change of behavior and a combination of suggested phrases in a hypnotherapy session.
He said that he could never be hypnotized. And that is the problem, he doesnt want to. He is afraid he will be out of control and that someone else(the hypnotist) will be putting in a state he fears. I told him that it is up to him to accept or reject the suggestion. He is always in control. No one can really hypnotize you if you dont want to. No one can take control of your life if you dont let them.
We have free will and can make choices to better ourselves or unconsciously accept choices that are less than beneficial for us. I know, I have been there alot. That is part of life’s learning. Sometimes I feel we are in a mass hypnosis of old outdated beliefs that hold us back from viewing our options in a much clearer way. That is how hypnosis is beneficial, when someone is assisting to input better programming to make your life better. Of course, in the end, you have the choice to accept or reject that input by using your intellect and gut feeling if it is the right input for you in that particular moment. That way you are always empowered in whatever suggestions come your way.
