Is Inner Peace Elusive?

I took these pictures two weeks ago on my way to visit my parents. It is a view of Biscayne Bay with Coconut Grove in the backdrop. The view driving from the car was some beautiful clouds with the sunset peaking behind. This part of the beach is also under renovation.  Recently the city cut down the Australian Pines along the stretch of the Rickenbacker Causeway. According to a Miami Herald article, the trees drive out native foliage and make nesting difficult for rare species.

So while I was taking pictures, these signs kept getting in my way: Road Closed and Beach Closed. I was trying to focus on only the clouds and the sunset beyond. I liken this to finding inner peace. If I was living in some remote village away from the world, I guess I could be in utter peace. But that is not what life is about,( in my humble opinion). Life is about engaging and relating with others.

So I included the pictures of the road signs as a symbol of the obstacles that come in the way of “life”. Yet, that didn’t prevent me from seeing the beautiful clouds and sunset. Good thing, I caught the moment. So the moral of the story is: Life is not always peaceful, yet life does bring some moments of serenity. Don’t miss out on them. They are always there, sometimes elusive, yet lasting.

I think life is constantly offering up road blocks and it's our job to drive around them and continue on our journey. Looking for the peace within is a daily occurance for me. I think as we heal ourselves we heal the planet and create world peace. I believe that every day we are one day closer to world peace. In fact that is a common affirmation in my mediation; I see the world as a peaceful place, all world leaders working toward a harmonious existence. I just wrote a post called “Peace” and would love your feedback. Namaste, Sherry

Hi Sherry, sometimes you just have to go completely in the opposite direction instead of driving around the obstacles. I feel that by having that inner peace secure within oneself, if the turn is big and drastic, the peace within will not only be the driver, but the sustenance to keep moving ahead. Thanks for your comments.
