What are you thirsty for? It is said that by the time we actually register in our minds that we are thirsty, we have actually reached the point of dehydration. Not always being an avid water drinker ,I know this has happened to me often in my life, I get so busy with all the business of the day that I forget to pay attention to the signals that my body is giving me. I see this as a greater metaphor for how we do this with our hopes, dreams and desires.
Are you living your dreams? What is it that you long for and hope for in the deep recesses of your heart? If the answer to these questions is you are not happy, then what has happened that you have lost the vision of what you hoped your life would be. Where is that living well of water that quenches your thirst that reignites your
passion for those dreams, so that they become alive and vibrant, and so they do not allow the point of dehydration to set in through our lack of attention to our dreams.
What happens to a plant when we do not water it and fertilize it? Well, it dies and so do our dreams. Once they become so parched for water, we begin to buy into a different illusion that they were never meant to be and that there was something wrong with me in having this dream and thinking that life could be different. Depression and disillusionment set in and we begin to cope with this state of being through different forms of denial. We look for different ways to escape the pain because that just seems like the natural thing to do.
What is it about these dreams, have you ever stopped to think about the things you dreamt about when you were a child? Take a moment right now to really go back in time and get in touch with what is it that you day dreamed about, what were the themes even if they were about the superheroes of the day or the fairy tale your parents had read to you the night before. We need to begin to access those innocent times of our lives when we were so open to hopes and dreams, when we had that clean slate in our mind not scarred by the many disappointments and limiting beliefs that we incur throughout our lives that hold us back. Take a moment to take this journey now and begin to allow the common thread of these dreams to weave the tapestry of the story that you want your life to be from this day forward. This is the beginning.
