  • Matheson Hammock Beach 2nd Day of Vacation

matheson-hammockSince I am in this timeless mode, I woke up pretty late and had a slow start. I was reading in the paper that it was going to get chilly the next day. It was about 93 degrees and beautiful sunshine, so I figured I better go or else I might miss the opportunity. The problem was that I was already around 1:00PM and I had to get my son at the bus stop at 3:00PM. This would not have given me much time to relax at the beach. Here I was stressing and about to text my son to walk home.

But instead I decided to wait, pick him up at school and take him back home. Good thing I did because he was very sore from working out and wasn’t feeling too good. By then it was past 3:00PM and I decided to go to Matheson Hammock which is in Coral Gables about 10 minutes away. It is a small beach that looks like a circular pool.  It is closed in by Coral Rock and the salt water comes in from Biscayne Bay.  Since it is shallow, it is a beach that many parents take small kids and babies. My parents took me here when I was a child. I lived very close to here . Too bad I don’t go so often because it is very lovely. I am going to make it a point that I come here to write and read this year. (more…)

  • Video of Nautica Triathlon South Beach

Here is the video of the Nautica Triathlon in South Beach on Sunday.  I put together a video file of all the pictures I took. I had never seen the start of a triathlon, so I truly enjoyed watching this event even though I had the idea I was going to see a quiet sunrise. Instead it was a sunrise filled with thousands of people from 40 states and 11 countries. I read in the Miami Herald that Ana Kournikova and other celebrities also did the race.

The sunrise pictures turned out beautiful. Seeing all these people walking in unison towards the start at the race with the sunrise as a backdrop was a beautiful site. I am so glad I happened to go. Make sure to see on the video at 4 minutes 10 seconds, the woman coming to the finish line with an artificial leg. Wow!  It was so awesome, I got goosebumps when I saw her running towards the finish line.

  • Vacation in Miami, My Hometown Without Guilt

    Triathletes Right Before Start
    Triathletes Right Before Start

Since I officially declared myself on a vacation in my own town for one week, I am going to be like a tourist in Miami. Miami  is a beautiful city with so much to enjoy. The weather is beautiful and the beaches gorgeous. I am lucky to live in such a great place.

I decided to see the sunrise  with the thought that it was going to be quiet. I ended up in the middle of the 2nd Annual Nautica Triathlon in South Beach about to take place. There were people from 40 states and 11 countries. I had never seen the start of a triathlon. I enjoyed it very much especially seeing thousands of people at sunrise. It was spectacular.
My intention this week is to be fancy free and enjoy my time and really feel like I am on a vacation.  Since I have my office in my home now, it is hard to not see all my to do’s for other things once I sit at the desk. But I will make my best effort to make it feel like a one.
Tomorrow I will post my slideshow of all the pictures I took.
  • Taking the Towel to the Beach

beach-and-laptop1You know the old saying, “I am throwing in the towel.”  Instead of doing this, I am going to take the towel to the beach this week. My son is on spring break and I also need a break very badly. I am exhausted by all the doing, doing, doing in these past six months to restructure my real estate business. I got inspired by the #iloveyou on facebook and twitter yesterday and it reminded me of a prayer day that my sister started last year.

She called it “Blanquita Day”.  It was the beginning of my financial and simultaneous health meltdown. I was talking to my friend, Gisele yesterday about the meaning of karma. What is good karma or bad karma.  Wikipedia’s definition  is:  Sanskrit for act, action, performance….concept of action or deed in Indian religions.

My interpretation in English is that karma is simply an action or choice. I would then deduct from this that good karma would be a good action/choice and bad karma would be bad action/choice. We all have made both. It is part of being human.  Hopefully, after learning from our experiences we can start to make better choices. (more…)

  • Law of Attraction Says Let Go of the Outcome

beach-and-landI have been blogging since last June about my process of rebuilding and the absolute necessity of having trust and faith to prevail in the worst of circumstances. After I recovered from my ankle surgery, I put 100% of my efforts to obtaining bank REO(real estate owned) listings. I talked about this in this post. The reason I put all my efforts into this was because an economist at an REO convention that I attended in October said that if  I was not working REO, I should get out of the business.

That statement was very direct but in a way, true. The fact of the matter is that it is the foreclosure listings that are selling because they are the best priced ones. Sure there are cash buyers for multimillion dollar properties that are not foreclosures, but that is the minority. I have put my best effort with all the new certifications needed.  I am positioned and confident enough to be a great REO realtor combined with my 24 years of experience as a real estate broker in Miami.

However, it is a very tough business to get into. I have done my best effort and in the last two weeks amped up more effort into getting my broker package out there. But the business is not coming in like a flood. The bank assignments I am doing are worthwhile, but they do not pay all my bills.  It didn’t help either that a Fannie Mae executive who came to talk at the realtor association, said to me that his wife is a realtor and even he has a hard time connecting her in this business.  (more…)
