That is what I have been, in frustration, yelling to Sparky( my 100 pound Labrador), every time he licks his wound. He got angry when the groomers shaved him for the first time. It was my sister’s suggestion to avoid shedding so much hair. Instead, all I have done is shed grief for 4 months and his wound doesn’t get better. It hasn’t gotten infected because I have given him antibiotics, gone to 2 veterinarians, applied sprays that the vet gave me, and holistic creams, muzzles, collar, special “bite not collar I bought of the internet, etc…. He is a mighty stubborn dog . I have also gone through countless gauze, bandages and tape which has pulled off. (more…)

A Pilots Quick Thinking
The pilot in the incident on the Hudson River in New York yesterday is quoted in the Miami Herald that a catastrophe was averted by his “quick thinking and deft manuevers”. Quick thinking like this can only be achieved by an alert and clear mind. http://www.miamiherald.com/news/nation/AP/story/856361.html. The passengers marvel they are alive. Just reading the story myself wells up in me the amazing feeling that yes, they are all alive. Why is that so? Why does it take a near death to jolt you into that clear minded awareness of the power of our life, our aliveness. We live in a world of constant distractions and worries especially now with the state of the economic affairs. These instances give us a pause to remind us that our life is not to be taken for granted. We each have a purpose, no matter how small. Maybe the chaos that is happening in the world economically is simply a shift for us to pause for us to restructure and reshape our lives with more meaning. (more…)

Obama, Our Hero, a Courageous Leader or Both?
I went out with my son tonight for a Coldstone ice cream desert on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables and happened to see this painting for sale in the window sill. With the inauguration of President elect Obama less than a week away, I thought that this depiction of Obama as Superman was symbolic.Superman is the hero, the man of steel, the one to save you in peril and despair. Well, alot of us are living financial peril and despair and we are looking for this new leader to save us. The way I look at it is that this man has the courage and vision to take us to a better place. But he can’t do it alone. Hopefully he is intelligent enough to pick the right team in every arena and delegate efficiently the most pressing matters.
I as a realtor in Miami and living this reality of financial peril as my income has dropped dramatically in these last two years, I have had to totally restructure the way I work. I did vote for Obama. I want change. Even if you didn’t vote for him, the reality is that he is going to be our President and leader for the next four years. (more…)

Happy New Year….Letting Go of the Year of Personal Meltdowns
Wow! What an amazing year it has been. I had about four meltdowns, financial, health, love and possibly letting go of my home. I have learned with each experience, that the next one is easier. All this restructuring in the middle of the madhouse of this financial meltdown in the world has made me feel like this cartoon that came out in the Miami Herald today: http://www.miamiherald.com/opinion/jim-morin/image_media/831682.html.I look forward to 2009 with a fresh outlook. I see the statistics that the economy is going to be worse. But with all these meltdowns behind my belt, I know I can now withstand any storm. The key is to stay in trust, focus, faith and surrender to something greater. Sounds simple. It is not easy, but it is the best way. Cheers to a better year for everyone!
