The purpose of creating and naming this site Resurrect Your Hero is that we feel that everyone has the potential to overcome obstacles, adversities, challenges, pain and suffering with the right frame of mind and attitude and rise above them. Circumstances in our lives are all different. When I was growing up my mom used to always say, “Someone else has a greater cross to bear.” In other words, others may be experiencing greater challenges than whatever we may be going thru in a particular moment.
At the present moment, I was going thru a challenge with my ankle and not being able to walk easily. I have had greater challenges before, so therefore this one was like a small blip in the scheme of things. I came across this article yesterday in the Miami Herald of Victor Dominguez, a staff sargeant who was burned on 82% of his body…..yes you read that right 82%!
When you read the article, it is amazing that he even survived. He has been thru hell I am sure. I pray he continues rising above all these obstacles so he can have peace in his heart and hopefully one day all those memories of the war and the blast which caused this horrific even can be erased and live a beautiful life only carrying the lessons learned, not the horrible memories. In my mind, he is a huge hero.
Usually we think of a hero as someone larger than life, like in the comic books and the superhero movies with extraordinary powers not gifted to human beings. I believe that we all have some kind of hidden hero qualities inside of us, be it small or large. It doesn’t matter. What matters is how you rise above anything and claim what is rightfully for anyone – a life filled with love, peace, and many other things….if you put your mind to it.
