  • A New Scenery and Unexpected Surprises

Life has some unexpected surprises. During this time of crawling and having to surrender even more so to allow the healing on my ankle to take place with patience and calm, I had a guy call me that I had seen at a party one week before my surgery. Because of not really being able to move much in the beginning, we just talked on the phone and a couple of times has brought me dinner in this last month. (more…)

  • The Heroes of Today

The recent news of the dramatic rescue of 15 hostages from the Colombian Farc to include the highly political figure of Ingrid Betancourt and 3 Americans has touched the minds and souls of every Colombian as well as many others that witnessed the news. As a native born Colombian I was drawn to the story of the day and felt compelled to hear every bit of news about this amazing feat. (more…)

  • Can You See The Signs?

I was talking to my friend who is a pharmaceutical rep on Sunday and I told her I had let go of the pain pills after two weeks from the surgery. She said that was a good sign that my ankle is healing. If I were to have some infection or the pain wouldn’t subside, then it would be a symptom of something else going on that would need to be looked at.

If you face the pain(face the reality), the pain might subside and eventually you will take a step in the right direction.

  • It’s a Good Time to Crawl

I am going on week 4. I am feeling stronger and more energetic every day. I’ve had the energy to go on my pilates machine for an hour. Yesterday I told a friend that now I am used to the apparatus on my ankle. Its like  boyfriends. At first, they feel foreign, but then you get used to them, even if they are good for you or not. We somehow adapt to circumstances. Of course, if they are unpleasant circumstances, there is eventual breakdown or a possibility for repair, like my ankle.             (more…)

  • What Are Your Mental Handicaps?

Currently I am unable to walk with both feet on the ground. I am hopping around on walker and graduating on crutches. The apparatus I have attached to my ankle and shin is very uncomfortable, but after two weeks of torturous pain from the procedures, the pain has definitely subsided. Time does heal all as they say. I do feel temporarily handicapped because I can’t physically move about like I normally do. I count my lucky stars that I am alive and it was only my bones that broke and not any permanent serious physical disability. (more…)
