  • A Hero in My Eyes

I just saw the episode on Oprah of this woman who had to have her arms and legs amputated after an infection took over her body. Her attitude moved me to tears when I saw that what kept her together was her focus on her family.  She had just given birth to a daughter and wanted to go home after rehabiliation and  give her newborn daughter the attention she needed.

These kind of stories make you pause and value what is really real and important in life.  What a real hero she is. It is beyond words.

  • A View From the Top

If you were a building, how high could you soar? They say that if you can imagine it, you can build it.  I just saw this video of the world’s tallest building called the Burj Dubai. I am not suggesting that you can build something taller than this. I am using this as an analogy of the possibilities of what can be achieved. As they say in the video, “the giant dreams of man and nature.  It took 29 million man hours to build!

If you are at the bottom of the barrel and rebuilding your life , all it takes is a blueprint and a plan. But the concept and dream always comes first. I am sure the planning of this took years. As they say in the  But now that it is completed, no matter how ostentatious, it is a wonder to the eyes.

  • My Dreams Push Me to Work on the Details

I Took This Picture Right After This Butterfly Was Born Ready to Fly

This past month has been a time to keep on focusing on recreating income. I have been working with an asset management company. They send me on assignments to gather information for pre-foreclosure cases. It is hard work, but I am willing to do it to find new avenues to provide for my sustenance this year. Even though I am continuing my creative projects with publishing, it entails a great amount of detail.

Because real estate is something I have done for the past 23 years, I have confidence that I can create new deals. The atmosphere is not the best. I think I was burned out from most of my deals that fell apart. I also was dealing with the stress of getting all new certifications to pursue the REO listings now.  I finally feel organized. The focus has to be very directed because I cannot afford to have more deals fall apart.

It is because I have awakened my passion of writing and doing this blog that keeps me going most of the time. I get sudden bursts of energy to work the real estate when I get so many ideas of projects I want to do with publishing. One of my dreams is to create children’s books. So keeping that dream alive helps me to do the detail work now.

  • There Is No Place Like Home

white-houseIn an essay in the Wall Street Journal yesterday, Joe Queenan focuses on the human foibles of the people we consider heroes. This past month Alex Rodriguez and Michael Phelps had transgressions that surprised us. One of the things that Joe Queenan says so poignantly is that ” these men may have done a great public service….and if you want to send a message to your kids, send it yourself. Don’t expect celebrities to be role models. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123456728548886075.html

Amen! That is a perfect statement! Kids learn best by example and the people who should serve as the best role models should be the parents or guardians of the children. Many people can serve as inspirational role models outside the home. This is necessary because many homes are broken. The children need hope to see that it is possible to rise above your circumstances. However, a parents biggest responsibility is to rise themselves above their own limitations and naturally be a great mirror for the children they bore.

Somestimes as adults we become cynical and tired of the negativity that is out there in the world. But in the end there is no place like home. Home is where the true heart is.  And from here is where the next generation can experience and see a better world because they themselves will create it, hopefully.

  • Just Believe

I like this video because it makes me think of the kids growing up today who are our future generation. It makes me think of what is on their mind as they see all this economic uncertainty going on in the world.  Believing  in yourself is the only certainty that can be sustained.
