I planted a butterly garden 9 months ago. This is my most recent Chryssalis that is about to become a butterfly in the next few days. This is the stage where it is ready to become a butterfly and after it was a catterpillar. It is in a quiet hiding mode for about a week forming its wings. When I read an article in the Miami Herald today about Ingrid Betancourt urging healing, I thought of this chryssalis.
She says the first thing we have to do is change hearts and that even though the guerillas are the enemy, she says we should show them ” how to seek a dignified exit thru peaceful negotiations. If we dont defeat them correctly, we will sow the seeds of hate for the future.” Also she says, “its a neurotic wrold… we need to reflect on how we behave.http://www.miamiherald.com/news/americas/story/597021.html
With all the busyness and crazyness in our own lives and the world, we barely have a moment to take these moments to heal. True healing comes from within..within our own individual hearts and from there we can move to our families and friends and the community. We must make peace with ourselves first and foremost so that individually and then collectively we can find alternative solutions to all these horrific events that happen in the world.
Yes she might be eager to reenter the political scene, but she says she mostly wants is to reestablish ties with her family. She has been thru alot, I am sure. I have a cousin who was kidnapped 10 years ago and was in captivity for only 30 days. It was hell for her. Ingrid was in captivity for 6 1/2 years. As they say, home is where the heart is. She is focusing on the best healing of all, with the people she loves most.
I am sure later, if it is her destiny to pursue her political career, it will happen, but for now, she can enjoy being the chryssallis for as long as she needs to.
